We are Bowlarama

About us, our activities are designed to be experienced as a group, to encourage teamwork/friendly competition and real interactions. Be it Bowling when you throw balls down our lanes, Laser Tag as you blast your friends, or singing your heart out in Karaoke, the smiles you share with friends are the real reward.

Bowlarama is owned by the Space Llamas Group, a Wellington based entertainment group, that focuses on fun.

Our Mission

The Space Llama group aims to provide a world class family friendly environment, to create fun and sociable interactions leaving our clients eager to return. We do this through providing a range of immersive group activities for all ages, and ensuring a high standard of customer service.

Enviroment

We strive to reduce our footprint, and to be a leader in our field of the market! To do this; we actively recycle all waste within our premise. The packaging we use is all biodegradable. We’ve managed to drop our electricity usage despite adding two new attractions since we took over in mid 2024!

In our arcade prizes, we’re actively looking for new items to replace as much of the plastic toys as possible, and our supply chains to give new options!

Our Awesome Team Leaders

Lucy

Bowlarama Queen and Manager

Lucy might be new to the manager’s chair, but she’s no stranger to high-energy environments. After years of coaching kids at Big Air Cheer, she’s now stepped into the spotlight at Bowlarama—bringing a fresh spark and a whole lot of heart to the team.

As the younger sister of Kate (aka the boss’s better half!), Lucy’s been part of the wider family behind the scenes for years. Now she’s front and centre, helping lead the charge as we build the next chapter of Bowlarama. With her coaching background, eye for detail, and can-do attitude, she’s all about keeping things fun, welcoming, and running like clockwork.

Georgie

The Heart of Bowlarama

Georgie has been part of the story our centre for an incredible 34 years. She started back when the venue was still the Wellington Indoor Sports Centre, working as a referee and quickly becoming a familiar, friendly face to generations of players and families. When Bowlarama was first launched under its original owner, Georgie made the leap with it—and she’s been the steady hand behind the scenes ever since.

Today, Georgie is our resident VIP and the glue that holds the team together. With decades of knowledge, a legendary work ethic, and a genuine passion for people, she’s seen it all, done it all, and still shows up every day with a smile. Bowlarama simply wouldn’t be the same without her.

David

Group Operations Manager

David brings over two decades of leadership experience across hospitality, transport, and venue operations to his role as Group Operations Manager. From managing top-tier restaurants to overseeing large-scale ferry operations with KiwiRail, David’s career has been defined by his ability to lead high-performing teams, handle complex logistics, and deliver exceptional customer experiences.

With a strong focus on health and safety, project management, and staff development, David now oversees operations across all our locations. He’s the engine room behind the scenes—ensuring each venue runs smoothly, efficiently, and to the highest standard. Calm under pressure and endlessly solutions-focused, David’s the kind of person you want steering the ship (or entertainment centre).

Kate & Grant

Owners

Grant and Kate took over the centre in 2024, after moving back to where Kate grew up.

Over the last 10 years in the entertainment space, we’ve expanded from one store in Grant’s hometown in Dunedin, to a group of 3 entertainment stores, and 3 board game stores across New Zealand, now grouped as the Space Llamas Group

Using this success to support thousands of community projects through New Zealand, as well as support our awesome team to grow. Please reach out to our team at [email protected] if you want our support.

Since 2018, despite Grant’s opinion Kate’s really been in charge, with her day job as a teacher its led us to push to be more active within schools, by providing vouchers, events, and now a sport to build our next generation.
